“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one” C.S.Lewis

I had the recent pleasure of attending an event organized by a Social Woman member at the Greek restaurant Mythos on Park Ave.

I'm not going to exaggerate and say that I was nervous and sweaty and had butterflies in my stomach but I did honestly feel a brief moment of anxiety as I stepped out of the car and thought-"Will it be awkward? What will we talk about?"

After all, these members had already met on a few occasions and had gone through the initial pleasantries-background/what do you do etc...It was 7pm and I had to leave at 8:30 for another dinner (no, it was not a "getaway plan"), I would survive right? After all, I'm an outgoing, chatty individual, surely I would find something to talk about!

Let's just say 2 hours later, I had to call and say I would be late for my "Plan B" ;) Just Kidding! I was genuinely having a great time with interesting women and delicious food and didn't want to leave! It was quite rewarding to hear these group of women, now friends, talk about their very own adventures of meeting each other for the first time less than two months ago. Their reasons for joining SW varied: expanding their network, friends moving away, finding new interests, and stepping out of their comfort zone to meet other awesome women. As for conversation, there was never a dull moment (does that even surprise you with six women?) and sometimes it was hard to get in a word edgewise!

More and more, people are turning to the internet to search for their soul mate or simply go on "blind" dates with the guy they've been chatting online with. So why not look for friends online and get together in a comfortable group setting? The Social Woman makes it easy: Browse profiles of other members based on interest/location/age, Find Events that you are interested in and ask other members to join you or simply post your own event and invite other members!

It's that simple and I can tell you that I've been there, done that and it was great!
